Dr. Dennis K. Williams, P.E., P.Eng.

Dr. Dennis K. Williams, P.E. is an ASME Fellow and Forensics Engineer who works with legal and insurance industry professionals to solve complex technical problems and to enhance the client’s accident reconstruction outcomes. After spending nearly four decades working in engineering design and analysis for multimillion dollar corporations and startups alike, Dennis understands what is truly needed to effectively communicate state-of-the-art mathematical simulations and impact dynamics to the legal community and lay audiences. Most importantly, Dr. Williams clearly understands that providing expert witness testimony involves much more effort and skill than simply mastering the software flavor of the month.

Dennis believes that ultimately, it is how well you connect with the heart-beating people that you are serving and are dependent upon for the extraction of factual recollections. In addition, four decades of experience during the investigative phase is invaluable when communicating with witnesses who are relaying their thoughts and memories of traumatic events that flashed by in an instant.

Dr. Williams is an ASME Fellow and has authored more than 100 peer reviewed publications. Within the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, Dennis served in the roles of the Pressure Vessels and Piping Design and Analysis Technical Committee Chairman for 5 years; served three 3-year terms as an Associate Editor of the Journal of Pressure Vessel Technology, was a member of the PVP Executive Committee where he acted as the Division’s Honors Committee Chairman; conducted numerous PVP Tutorials including “The Engineer in the Witness Chair”; and was the recipient of the Division’s highest award, the ASME PVP Outstanding Service Award. In addition, Dr. Williams was a Distinguished Visiting Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the American University of Cairo. Finally, Dr. Williams has provided sworn expert witness testimony in over 100 legal proceedings in both numerous state courts and U.S. Federal District courts over the past 35 years in the fields of mechanical engineering, accident reconstruction, and the origin and cause of fires.

Dennis is a licensed professional engineer in the Commonwealth of Virginia and the states of North Carolina, Texas, West Virginia, California, Maryland, and Tennessee in addition to holding five patents in the design of various steam generators in the oil and gas industry and the nuclear power business.

Dennis holds a B.S. in Nuclear Science and Engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of South Carolina.
